recently watched Catherine Cookson's Colour blind... about white/black mix couple and stuggles of thier mixed race daughter who faces the wrath

Yay for Bollywood movies...very big fan of them.

Booktalker...I can recommend Veer Zaara, which is about a relationship between a Pakistani female played by Preity Zinta and an Indian man played by Shah Rukh Khan.. Another good one is Devdas which is about love between two people (neighbours) and how they're forced apart due to society status and caste system...very sad! Another one of SRK movies..plays leading male role along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in female lead. Basically anything with SRK is entertaining.. I could name loads of them but you said 'ease you in'...LOL.

Just make sure you have at least 3 hours to spare, and a box of tissues...

Oohh...forgot to add - I came across a movie titled 'White Teeth' with Om Puri & Archie Panjabi (love her in The Good Wife).. I haven't watched it but if anyone has, please post a review... Thanks

Hi Me again.

Films !! I have a  love /hate thing with Bollywood , I enjoy the music, but sometimes get irritated with poor plots, acting ,(why do they screech and shout so much ). There are some better films coming out though like Paa, Delhi 6,Billu Barber,New York, Life in a Metro, Like Stars on Earth

I did enjoy The Namesake ,Rang di Basanti, Earth ,Fire ,Water like many of you  on here , also these were impressive:

Whats Cooking (Gurinder Chadda)
Ishqiya
The Legend of Bhagat Singh

Hey all,

Just watched Namesake - mentioned previously by CG and BT. Bloody loved it very well acted etc. Made me slightly unnerved when the my characters white gf was called Maxine :S
Mine is not a common name, never used in movies/ books as this film was based on. Felt like they were party telling my own story. All in very good modern movie. Many good themes and a lot of what asian partners struggle with asian heritage over western heritage.

Also Sweetchics u can watch White teeth on 4od as I recently did. It's a good one. Book is again better

Haven't watched Namesake but it's on my list on lovefilm.
