Birmingham Book Festival is on from 5th to 21st October this year - it has some excellent writers including some whose books we've reviewed, including Raphael Selbourne, who wrote "Beauty," Pakistani Fatima Bhutto, plus discussions on human rights (Gareth Peirce)

Maybe see you there!

Also have a look at this new book - the author will be at the festival - sounds like one for us to add to the reading pile!

The Obscure Logic of the Heart by Priya Basil is a profound love story between a Kenyan Sikh and a British Muslim who meet at University and hide their relationship from their families until a suitcase of letters falls into the wrong hands.

New books I have brought today...

Im trying to read them all at once..!! so will have to decide which one to saty with sooner or later...

Have we this one on our booklist?

1. We are a Muslim, please  ...... By Zaiba Malik

The other one is:

 2. Isq and Musque.....By Priya Bancil ( I wonder if this means Love and Smell?..by way of my vague translation)

I have ordered the Obscure heart from Amazon..after visiting Waterstones today and learning they have no knowledge of it yet in my town!!

There are some amazing boks out their by asian and white british writers on the subjects of interest to many here.

Hi Saffron - Thanks for the recommendations - Zaiba Malik is on the list (a very good read! It was serialised on Radio 4 as well) and I've added both of Priya Bancil's - let us have your review when you've read them and I'll add that in too. FYI, I'm keeping the list up to date but will probably only put the latest list on the forum every few months or so, when a few more have been reviewed. B x
