I do find this quite an difficult topic because I have known many Asian men even in India who think white women are easy which is of course not the case. With my personal experience women back home who wore western outfits were considered easy they were Indians. This is more to do with few perv Asian men mindset rather then it being case. We women used to find it extremely difficult especially when we wore western party outfits for clubbing were approached by random men for sex!! Thinking we were easy. I find it more relaxed here I can wear the outfits I want I do get random dirty looks sometimes but Its not as bad. I would definitely be conscious what I would wear in an predominantly Asian area.
Some women are naive no matter what background they come from and get caught up in the rut.

Sadly, spidax, from what I know, the older people / families in the community these guys come from don't punish this behaviour, both because they want to keep it hidden and also because they secretly think the girls are asking for it, no control or shame etc., and boys will be boys... It is mostly British born guys, who are frustrated because they feel they don't fit in to either British culture or their home culture. It can't be easy, but it doesn't excuse the behaviour.

I sometimes wonder if it is british born men Booktalker! Its the same in other countries too! Pakistan and |India included..sadly...rules maybe different but the outcome is not too dissimilar.

The older members of the community may not help, I agree....but the upbringing of males is also an issue. Communties need to take responsibility for that as well, control and ignorance are all aspects of parenting that Im thinking about, and not least the low view/value of women.

I strongly agree with saffron, I see no guidance from older community when it comes an ill doing.. They would rather hush it up and brush it under the carpet.
Coming from a background which is dominated by male many hardly respect women forget about equality! Al they have been taught is because they are male they are special god's gift!

Glad you all found the links useful. I appologies that I dont right much on these threads, i find very hard to eloquent and get my point across on messageboards compared to in real life.

Its making me angry at the moment that whenever things stories come up that challenge multiculuralism, such as this grooming case and the recent speight of honour killings, debate in the mainstream media and therefore progress at a sociological level can be stifled so quickly by jumping on the slightest bit of generalisation.

We know that not all men of Pakistani origin arent sexual predators, but it could and should be used as a catalyst to look into changing this particular demographic's poor track record of gender equality.

However, all local MPs, journalists and Community leaders seem to be doing is sweeping matters under the carpet and pretending everything is ok. All they are interested is preservation of their positions and the comfortable lifestyle they enjoy. Everyone seems scared to rock the boat for fear of not getting re-elected or backlash from the communties they represent.

Hey, Monome, you seem like a pretty eloquent person to me! Really, changes are best when they start at the soil and the roots - I don't think many of the people on this site realise how important what they're doing is, in terms of effecting those changes. It's really tough for them being on the front line, but hopefully they will - as Dev so beautifully puts it - be the change they want to see.

Hi everyone, this issue is very controversial but very thought provoking, it is not to offend people however the likelihood is that young white females are being targeted by Muslim men in Britain today. Most of these young girls have some emotional issues to begin with which is compounded by low self esteem and confidence issues and broken families where their are no positive role models they turn to others to fill whatever hurt they have in their lives which turns to sexual exploitation. Many females feel they are Loved as these men show them a form of emotion however fail to realise that these people only have the one agenda.  This issue is wide spread and more males are targeting younger and more vulnerable girls. I feel Older members of the community have not addressed these issues as many may not know what the younger males In the community are up to (men are hardly going to high light to their parents, wives, family members what they are up to). This needs to be stopped and in majority of cases which include towns and cities where it has been found that Muslim men are abusing young females have predominantly larger Muslim communities.
There is no excuse for abuse in any society or any walks of life we should not get angry because political Mps and the media highlight this specific form of abuse as only Asian men being perpetrators is to Challenge mind sets and fixed ideologies however we must expose these evil committers of crime for who they really are Paedophiles and scum who prey on young vulnerable girls.
