Hi 6stars - no, it's not obvious, is it? I seem to recall others talking about a programme on Shirley Bassey last week which I think was part of the series. However, I found this:

"Charting events from the turn of the 20th Century to the present day, George Alagiah explores the social factors that have influenced the shape of mixed race Britain in Mixed Britannia, which begins on Thursday 6 October at 21:00 BST on BBC Two."

Hi BT and 6Stars!

We have another thread on the forum which I put up last week when the Shirley Bassey film was on..they advertised this weeks programme at the same time...and its part of Mixed Race Britain...series..the next programme is on:

Thursday 6th October BBC2..Mixed relationships is the topic!!

Im looking forward to seeing this..and Hope as many of us can watch as possible.

the BBC did contact us about this programme and took some of our stories but decided not to use them..i wnder if they have a romantic twist to the mixed relationship showing on this programme or just positive stories...Id like to think ours is a positive story..but they didn't use it in the end!

IM trying to keep my eyes open! Im sooo tired Its very interesting history,at times very sad, but also the courage of those who lived with their families knowing the prejudice that existed,often behind closed doors.

Weve always said ...mixed race relationships have always existed...and attitudes have not changed in some circles sadly.. many asian families in particular,but not solely.

I will be watching newsnight for the debate...

Watched the Mixed Britannia documentary last night... Hmmm... was very surprised by the history of mixed race Britain. So in a nutshell, the racism and ill treatment of ethnic minorities was down to a bunch of insecure white men who felt compelled to act on their immaturity and insecurity..

Am not sure what's worse... knowing that those insecurities still exist and impact on this society today (read immigration), OR the fact that ethnic minorities who once lived as a close community in Britain, fighting to maintain their dignity and individuality despite the constant degradation, are now at odds with each other. Such a travesty!

Anywho...there's another documentary tomorrow night at 09:45pm on BBC2.
