Good for her, I'm glad she's getting the recognition she deserves.

I remember years ago seein her on Jeremy Kyle and thinking what a great cause she was working for.

Saw this article in the Times of India:

Wow. Just read that article. 10 and 11 years old? Words fail me....

just by the way, that article seemed to focus entirely on muslim forced marriage, mainly Pakistan but listing other muslim countries. It didn't seem to touch on indian forced marriage, even though the article is Indian. Is this not another example of community (ie. Indian community/media) covering up the problem, by blaming it on another race...

I think it probabaly has ...Indian paper..which hasn't stated that sikhs, hindus are also affected in this country and worldwide...I noted that too. Although our highest proportion is diffenantly of pakistani origin,it should not be missed out that Indians are hughly affected too.

Good point secret, I noted it too.

Jas so deserved the award.
I told my bf about her, he was shocked what had happened to her and also amazed at what she has done.

I'm ok, loving the house, it great to have a place that is ours, even though I'm not there full time yet.
Even enjoying diy at the moment.!
I've still got to get my bf to meet my parents.
I can understand that he is nervous, but I really want them to meet, so that we can move forward.

Did  people watch the awards last night?..It was great to see Jasvinder, and many other good people receive awards. I was amazed at how many famous people support these awards each year.

Unfortunately I didnt get chance to see it.

However, I was speaking to a friend on saturday who would probably be oblivious to the issue of forced marriage as it does not impact on him or his circle of friends... he told me he'd seen it and how shocked he was that this kind of thing was going on. So by her winning that award and telling her story she will have opened millions of eyes to what is happening out there.
